In three days.
Not that I’m counting.
Today, I send this blog into the world for the first time…
I starting writing in mid-november, when I was put on bed rest for 6 weeks after a very healthy and un-exciting pregnancy…except that at 7 1/2 months I had been having contractions every 20-30 minutes for weeks.
Which I thought was normal.
Thankfully (and most importantly) kiddo is healthy and doing great, but I was told to “lie the f*ck down.” (I tend to fight my doctor on “taking it easy”…he had to get firm.) I do not have the personality type for bed rest. Staying inside on the couch is a form of torture. I know that sounds insane, but I went to IKEA this past Saturday along with 50,000 other people, road-rage filled drivers, and in LA rain traffic…and it was the happiest, most exciting day I’ve had since mid November. That should tell you how deranged I’ve become.
My people have been an incredible and overwhelmingly helpful support…I love them all so hard it makes me want to punch things.
But not moving for that long really took a toll on my body and mental state, and writing, painting, and drawing became therapy. I am NOT a visual artist in any sense, but playing around with the watercolors you see on the blog (blobs and splatter :), the hand lettering up on the Instagram (fake calligraphy :), and these pregnancy rants…brought back a smidge of sanity, and a small sense of purpose.
The plan is to post every Thursday. I have two months written and ready to go, since I will be a bit preoccupied for awhile…and I’ll be slowly learning this blog world, and trying my best to be honest, raw, and hopefully funny…because this journey has been nothing if not funny. You can’t produce this many weird bodily fluids and not laugh about them. Plus, I’m about to get pooped on 73 times a day.
So I’m off bed rest…and we head to the hospital in 3 days to meet our son via planned c-section, thanks to the little bugger being breech and stubborn and refusing to flip over.
Full on terrified, excited, full of love and anticipation, and I have to pee.
Thank you so much for reading, it means so much to me. Please leave comments and any suggestions on how to improve are greatly appreciated!
This is a new adventure, one of many…
